Beef, chicken, pork and turkey are made using the traditional method of starting with very lean meat, cutting it into 1-1.5 inch chunks, packing it into the can by hand, adding a dash of salt to enhance the meat flavour, and then pressure cooking it in the can.
As a result, the meat chunks are lean and tender in natural juices. The beef tastes like a slow-cooked pot roast, the chicken tastes like baked chicken, and so on. The broth used in these canned meats contains only broth and nothing else, except for the Beef Broth.
When comparing canned meat products, there are three things to look for on the label:
1) whether water is added, as it can reduce the meat quality;
2) the fat content, as more fat in canned meats indicates lower quality;
