Red Feather Real Canned Butter from Ballantyne's in New Zealand

If you have been looking to add REAL butter, not powdered or freeze-dried, to your long-term food storage program, then look no further!

This creamery canned butter that is imported from New Zealand tastes better than any gourmet butter we have ever tried - and no refrigeration is necessary!!

From Manufacturer: Red Feather Shelf Life -- There is no Expiration Date written in stone because the shelf life depends largely on the storage conditions (temperature, humidity, altitude, sunlight/shade, etc.).

We do guarantee a shelf life of two years however, the actual shelf life of the butter will ultimately be determined by the storage conditions (temperature being the main factor) and the seal on the can remaining intact and therefore protecting the butter from the introduction of oxygen."

GREAT FOR CAMPING! PERFECT FOR THE BOAT OR RV!

Now you can finally have smooth, creamy, high-quality butter . . . and who cares if the electricity goes off??

And the best part (besides the great taste), is the list of ingredients: Pasteurized Cream and Salt - that's it!! No preservatives, food coloring or chemicals of any kind, just naturally made wholesome butter from down under.

Here's what the label lists for nutritional info compared to the American butter that we are all used to today;

8 Health Benefits of Butter

1.Minerals

Did you know that butter is a great source of trace minerals like zinc, iodine, copper, chromium, manganese, and selenium? Selenium is a powerful antioxidant.

2.Vitamins

Butter contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K2. It is rich in bioavailable vitamin A, which supports healthy vision, brain function, skin health, the endocrine system, and the thyroid and adrenal glands.

3.Choline

Choline is an essential nutrient needed for many body functions, including liver function, brain development, nerve function, muscle movement, energy levels, metabolism, detoxification, and the process of methylation.

4.Butyric Acid

Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid in butter with anti-carcinogenic properties. It helps healing and soothes the intestinal tract.

5.Healthy Fatty Acids

Butter contains both short and medium-chain fatty acids, which support the immune system, protect the stomach from gastrointestinal infections, and boost metabolism. It also contains essential fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6.

6.Cholesterol

The role of cholesterol in our body is often misunderstood. Many studies have shown that the idea linking cholesterol to heart disease is not accurate.

7.CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)

Grass-fed butter is rich in CLA, which can help prevent various types of cancer and encourage the body to build muscle instead of storing fat.

8.Anti-Properties

Grass-fed butter has properties that help fight harmful microorganisms in the digestive tract.

More Benefits

Vitamin E helps to prevent free-radical damage, is required for the proper functioning of many organs in the body and improves skin health. Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium. Vitamin K2 is essential for the body to help utilize minerals, including calcium, protecting against tooth decay. All the vitamins found in butter help to support a healthy metabolism and balance hormones.

Some of you may be trying to watch your weight and be very hesitant to begin adding butter back into your diet. You don’t have to be concerned because the fatty acids found in butter are not stored as fat in the body. Instead, they promote muscle storage and are used by vital organs in your body.

Butter provides our bodies with cholesterol which is essential for healthy cellular function. It also plays a huge role in the brain and nervous system development, acting as a healing agent in the body, especially when stress and inflammation are present. As you can see butter is truly a superfood!

FAQs

1. How Long Does Red Feather Butter Last?

The manufacturer specifies a 2-year shelf life under ideal storage conditions. Yet, this timeframe might be a conservative estimate. Factors like temperature, humidity, and light exposure can all influence the longevity of the product. Unopened cans stored in cool, dry environments (think pantries or root cellars) have been reported to maintain quality for much longer than two years, potentially lasting well over a decade.

The canning process itself sterilizes the butter and removes oxygen, significantly reducing spoilage factors. Ultimately, while the official shelf life is two years, the inherent properties of canned, shelf-stable butter suggest a much longer potential lifespan under proper storage.

Used on sailing trips - loved it

I used to use Red Feather canned butter on a long sailing trip I took. Fats of any kind are hard to store long term, but for the 2 years I ate Red Feather at sea, it always tasted as delicious as my favorite butter from the grocery store.

I don't really know how long it will last--I have cans from 20 years ago that I've never opened and which spent time in the tropics in a sailboat, and I have a lot that is about 10 years old. I'm sorry I haven't tried it recently, but I think it will still be pretty good for 10 years, maybe longer.
